Naga People's Front enter electoral politics in Manipur
Arijit Sen | CNN IBN | 09:02 AM, Sunday, January 15, 2012, Imphal:
It is a new flag that's raising the political temperature in the Naga dominated hill districts of Manipur. In Senapati district, messages of an alternative arrangement or posters that talk about the integration of Naga dominated areas for a greater Nagaland remains the primary plank on which the Naga People's Front are entering electoral politics for the first time in Manipur.
A debut that is bringing into sharp focus the territorial integrity of the state. Though the Chief Minister seems to unaffected by the NPF. Manipur CM Okram Ibobi Singh says, "I am not worried with the formation of NPF. It will not make any blockade effects on votes." The reminders of the 121 day blockade that crippled Manipur for 4 months are still fresh along National Highway 57. As the NPF fields 12 candidates the votes will tell the story.
