NSCN (K) truce with India, Myanmar
Nagaland Post | Kohima, May 7 (NPN) (K.V. Nurumi)
With the extension of the cease fire between the Government of India and the NSCN(K) on May 3, 2012, the latter became the only outfit in the region to have entered into a cease fire agreement with two countries-India and Myanmar.
The source also disclosed that New Delhi’s consent came with a condition that there would be no preconditions for talks. Khaplang is understood to have told CFSB members including supervisor Lincoln and “kilonser” Hokato Vusshe to sign the truce extension and not accept any conditions.
Apart from the consent from Khaplang, the Centre is also understood to have pressed the outfit for withdrawal of support to Assam and Manipur-based insurgent groups in Myanmar. India has always maintained that NSCN (K) has several “army camps” in north Myanmar where the NE rebels are given shelter.
