NSCN-K sheltering North East outfits : Centre
The Telegraph | H. Chishi | Kohima, July 3:
The Centre has categorically stated that the NSCN led by S.S. Khaplang, which signed a ceasefire with Myanmar on April 9, is providing shelter to Northeast insurgent outfits.
The Centre’s representatives and the NSCN (K) leadership that met here today discussed several issues, including the one on providing shelter and aiding northeastern outfits, including Ulfa, despite being warned by New Delhi against doing so.
The NSCN (K) rebutted the claim of the Centre’s representative, but did not deny the presence of cadres of Northeast militants in Myanmar. The outfit claimed that Ulfa was in Myanmar on its own and not with the NSCN (K)’s tacit support. The outfit said it had an understanding with other insurgent groups like Ulfa and United National Liberation Front (UNLF) of Manipur, but claimed that it neither provides them shelter nor any kind of assistance.
