NPMHR Press Statement on Alice Kamei
8th April, 2013

The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) is deeply concerned by the stoic non-action of the appropriate authorities in securing the safe release of Ms. Alice Kamei, daughter of Punsijao and Sundari Kamei of Chingphu village, Bishnupur District, Manipur from the custody of the RPF/PLA. It should be remembered that Ms. Kamei is just 14 (Fourteen) years old and who was undergoing her studies at Grace Reach Academy, Hiyanglam before her “recruitment” by the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA).
Further NPMHR urges the RPF/PLA to release Ms. Kamei from their custody without any conditions and to ensure her safe return to her parents and academic pursuits.
NPMHR also reaffirms its support to the activities of the Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur, the Zeliangrong Youth Front, and other organisations working for the safe release of Ms. Kamei.
