NPF on Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister
Kohima, 26th November 2018
The Naga People's Front is constraint to issue this press release regarding the much controversial talk between the Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and in-charge of Home, Y Patton and State Chief Secretary, R. Benchilo Thong (IAS) on the subject matter of transferring case of Additional Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma.
The NPF expressed shocked and bewilderment at the manner in which the Deputy CM has threatened the state executive head, Mr. Thong over the latest row regarding Mr. Sharma's transferring case.
The ADGP, Mr. Sharma who was removed as DGP, a couple of months back is seeking for a deputation to Nagaland House, New Delhi and his file, which is under process has once again under the scanner as the Deputy CM is seen verbally threatening the Chief Secretary using derogatory languages to the highest bureaucracy of the state.
It has come to light with enough documentation proof that Mr. Rupin Sharma has requested for posting at New Delhi attached to Nagaland House, for his medical check-up and to pursue his deputation. But unfortunately, the Home Commissioner has moved the file for grant of medical leaves which Mr. Sharma has not prayed for , and hence the matter was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister of Nagaland , Neiphiu Rio, whereby taking exception to the genuine request put up by Mr. Sharma , the CM has agreed to place him at Nagaland House , and hence , necessary directives were given by CMO to the Home Commissioner for putting up the file to Hon'ble CM.
What followed thereafter has shocked the people of the state like a bolt from the blue, as according to sources, the Deputy CM, Mr. Patton has gone to the extent of threatening to finish off the Chief Secretary, Mr. Thong after his return from Mizoram.
The question that NPF has put acrossed to all Nagas is, " How far are we going to bear these brunts and the unruly behaviorial attitudes of our today's political leaders? When the top Bureaucrats in the state can be threatened and dragged like dirt in the streets, how safe are the other public servants from the hands of these brute's?", asked the NPF.
It can be assumed that the Chief Secretary has become a sandwiched between the Chief Minister and the Deputy CM due to their clash of interest and not for the welfare of the state. The NPF is also amused over the silent of the PDA Chief Minister over the recent drama and asked the Chief Minster to come out with clarity as no officers should suffer at their behest.
Further, the PDA Government, which is marred by one controversy after another depicting its deep insecurity within their ruling partners should not disgrace the law of the land but to immediately look
upon the book of the law of the land and enforce it.
