NPF consultative meeting at Zunheboto

The NPF President, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu categorically stated that the Nagas has remained silent for too long and it is high time we speak the truth of what is happening of our rights.

While pointing out the failure of the present Government on the economic policy for the people, Dr. Shürhozelie maintained that, we are not accusing anybody but it is our right to speak the truth as the Government cannot suppress the people’s right.

Addressing the NPF Zunheboto Division during the consultative meeting cum oath taking ceremony here at Zunheboto multipurpose hall on Thursday, the NPF President said that the Government has failed in managing the public money, and so has urged the Government to utilize the money in appropriate ways, where the all round development reaches to the public.

“If the Government spent money for which it is taken for then there will be visible development” he lamented and said that the present Government has no accountability on the State’s money.

Expressing his serious concern over the present Government on human resource development, Dr. Shürhozelie said that the Government has no programme for uplifting the human resource development as people can judge how sincere the Government is doing for the human development and to disclose the fact is the duty bound of the NPF party, he maintained.

The party President also reiterated that NPF is the regional party in the state where every Naga can be part of the party and stated that NPF belongs to the people of Nagaland as a whole and as much as he is the member of the party, all the Naga people is also member of this regional party.

He also said that NPF that is deeply rooted to the unique history of the Naga people is the only viable regional political party representing the identity and the aspirations of the Naga people, adding that since the inception of the party, it is the only party to support the Naga movement and today also the party is to protect the regional interest of our people in various ways such as social, cultural, faith, language, so on so forth.

The former Chief Minister also express alarm over the increasing number of illegal immigrants into the state and stated we should not fear anymore but high time we deal with the true reality else we will become stranger in our own land one day.

Referring on the 21 MLAs defection, Dr. Shürhozelie said that though they have betrayed their own party, the party functionaries is intact and have no regret for their defection, rather he said it is better to have a hundred enemies outside the house than one inside. He also pointed out that the present tenure is completing 5 years and now time is approaching for the people to freely select their best leader without any fear or succumb to any power. He also asserted that if election is held then NPF will try to field candidates in all the 60 seats and will work hard to take over the Government.

NPF Working President, Thenucho in his speech during the occasion said that if election is held then it will be very crucial and important in deciding the future of the Naga people. He pointed out that many political leaders shifted from one party to another but the development in the state remain the same and called upon for changes in our leadership.

He was also of the view that the Naga people cannot expect development under the present Government and so time has come to change the Government and if NPF is voted to Government then all round development will come.

He also said that the Naga people cannot put our future generation at risk and called upon the people to be united and work and bring corruption free Government.

The Secretary General, Achumbemo who also spoke on the occasion said that NPF always stand for honourable, inclusive and acceptable solution to the Naga political issue and the party is committed for the early solution to the Naga political issue. He also stated that NPF is surviving for 60 years now besides all weather and the party will exist till the Naga people exist, he added.

He also said that NPF party is not just a political party but it represents the aspiration and sentiment of the Naga people and the party itself belongs to every Naga people and every Naga people is the owner of this party.

While recounting the 2003 General election where the Congress has 59 MLAs and fought the election and NPF came out from nowhere and took over the Government, Achumbemo claimed that it shows the blessings of the Naga people was with the party and asserted that with 4 MLAs now, with God guidance the NPF will form the next Government.

Earlier, short speeches were also delivered by NPF intending candidate, Zheito Chophy and Central Women Wing President, Yanhola while Working President, Dr. Huskha Yepthomi given the oath taking to the newly inducted office bearers of the Zunheboto Division and the ACs.
