NPF Hits Back at NPCC for Poll Comments
Outlook India | PTI | Kohima Mar 10, 2012
The NPF said it was amply clear from the NPCC statement that the Congress party was against integration of the Nagas but the regional party was committed to it, pointing out that the Nagaland assembly had passed resolution four times in favour of integration of contiguous Naga areas, which was also enshrined in the Clause 13 of the 16-point agreemen of 1960 that led to statehood of Nagaland in 1963.
The NPF asked the opposition Congress to refrain from making comments on electoral performance of a regional party in another state when its own house was in “disarray.”
Referring to senior Congress leader K Therie’s comment on political situation in eastern Nagaland, the NPF said he had achieved the “distinction of being a completely rejected politician” as he had lost in consecutive elections in the state.
The NPF asked whether Therie or Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee could spell out how much they had done for the eastern Nagas when they had the opportunity while in power.
