NIT students meet Union Sports Minister
The exciting journey of the NIT students further continued as they met the Union Sports minister Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on 22nd Feb 2018 . The students held an interactive session with the Sports Minister who in return encouraged the students to study hard and excel in sports as well.
The Sports Minister reflecting on the fact that the team of FIFA U-17 consisted of 8 Manipuris, said that despite Manipur lacking sports facilities, the grass route level has excellent talent and they know, how to pick up a game and excel in that sport.
He also added that Chief Minister of Manipur has also proposed for having a Football Academy in Manipur.
The student also indulged in fun interaction with the Sports Minister and on insistence of the Minister, students sang songs in their local language. In the end when the students presented a token of remembrance, the Union Sports Minister was utmost delighted.
The NIT team then proceeded to enjoy one of modern day India’s technical marvel-the Delhi Metro. It also included their first ever escalator ride.
The students also walked on the Rajpath and were thrilled on seeing the tall and old buildings.
Children then visited the famous Nehru Planetarium and were really excited to know how the stars interact with each other. The live interaction and the show was educative and informative for students which they enjoyed a lot.
