NE may have wool banks to meet increasing demand

Winter and woollens have arrived in the hills with the Central Wool Development Board, Union ministry of textiles and the Northeast Initiative of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) having jointly organized a 10-day ‘Woollen Expo’ which was inaugurated at the All Saints’ Cathedral Hall here recently.
Weavers from the rural areas of Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir are taking part in the expo and we have set up fifty stalls which have been provided free of cost to encourage them,” said Zuber Hussein, executive officer with the Northeast Initiative, ICC.
