My Song
K. Padmakumar *
In this vast universe
I wonder what I should do.
I have forgotten where I come from
And I do not know where I have to go to;
I am just wonderstruck
In this playing field of an unfathomable universe.
Days, months and years
It appears these are not connected by joints;
The race of life
Looks as if it could be crossed in one stride only.
This philosophy of life
Makes everyday living suddenly uncomplicated
Today’s sorrowdrop
Mingles with the ocean of sorrows of life.
I would rather laugh away care
Then worry about it.
Our presence here amongst friends
Is but for a moment
Like a flock of birds in flight.
In this flow of time from no beginning to no end
In this voyage from generation to generation with no vacuum
Participate we do in the game of life but for few moments;
In this long and deep sleep of the world
We are but dreaming a sweet little dream;
It is like having a walk along a short country lane
Hand in hand with loved ones.
