Ministry of home affairs watch on Modi's northeast visit

The ministry of home affairs (MHA) kept a close watch on the northeast as BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi went on a whirlwind tour of the region's two militancy-hit states of Manipur and Assam on Saturday.
A source said the threat perception here was not from northeast-based militants but from Islamic terror groups, which have a pan Indian presence. "He is the only top political leader in the country facing direct threat from almost all Islamic outfits, including jehadi groups," the source added.
