Meluri village council reacts to report as totally false and baseless
Nagaland Post | Kohima/Dimapur, Apr 30 (NPN)
Meluri village council has strongly reacted to the report carried in this newspaper on April 30 that fresh tension arose along the Nagaland-Manipur border as alleged by Jessami villagers that Meluri villagers torched 30 huts belonging to Jessami village constructed at jhum field within Matihkrii area.
Chairman Meluri Village Council Rholetho and general secretary Kuothosie slammed the report emanating from Imphal as “totally false and baseless” which has only added fuel to the already fragile tension in the area and also that the incident was unknown to public of Meluri.
The signatories said the allegation of dragging the name of Meluri was to create another tension between Jessami people with another village (Matikhrü) and intentionally done with an ulterior motive of derailing the on-going peace process initiated by the Pochury Public Forum (PPF) and the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL). They also said the motive was to “further continue encroaching into our land.”
