The Association of Manipuri Diaspora (AMAND) Pune is a non-profit, nongovernment community organization formed by the Manipuri professionals working in /retired from the Central Government or Maharashtra Government or other reputed Institutions based in and around Pune. The Association aims at providing a common platform of the Manipuris, irrespective of their caste, creed and religion, for propagating awareness on rights and issues related to social justice with a goal to enhance communal harmony and national integration through fair practices. The association was founded on in September 2011 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 at Pune, Maharashtra.

With the prevailing situation in the country concerning the Northeastern people, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently initiated to include the history and unique culture of Northeast in the higher education curriculum in the universities.

In concurrence with this initiative, AMAND Pune is planning to conduct a beginners’ tutorial program on “Meitei Mayek Script” for the people staying in and around Pune.

The tutorial program is scheduled to commence by 8th June, 2014 and conclude with the final examination of this course on 20th July, 2014. This audio-visual mode tutorial program will be held at the University of Pune, Pune.

The tutorial program has been planned to create a common platform for anyone to know and understand about the North Eastern states which is also in line of our ideology “Let them know us as we know them”.
