Maisnam Meiraba Luwang was able to win the U-19 boys singles title at the Yonex Sunrise Smt Krishna Khaitan All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament-2019 organised at Panchkula, Haryana under the aegis of Badminton Association of India while Manipur's U-19 duo Manjit Singh Khwairakpam and Dingku Singh Konthoujam went down fighting in the final to settle for the runners up title today.
Russian Junior White Night International Badminton tourney winner Maishnam Meiraba secured his 5th National Ranking title of the year today by cruising past Sathish Kumar K from Tamil Nadu 21-12, 21-11 in the final.
Meiraba who settled for the bronze in the recently held Bulgarian Junior International Badminton Championship reached the final with a 21-17, 21-11 over Rohan Gurbani in the semi-final yesterday.
Meiraba defeated Arjun Rehani of Delhi (21-8, 21-11), Rohan Thool of Maharashtra (21-7, 21-17) and Ravi of Haryana (21-14, 21-11) respectively in the first three rounds before beating Sarath D of Andhra Pradesh 22-20, 16-21, 21-15 in the quarter final.
Meanwhile, Kh Manjit Singh and Konthoujam Dingku who made it to the final with a win against Navaneeeth Bokka and Qadeer Moinuddin Mohammed yesterday, suffered a 12-25, 15-21 defeats in the hands of Yash Raikwar and Iman Sonowal pair in the final today.
Earlier in the tournament, Manjit and Dingku pair defeated Nitin Kumar and Harsh Rana 21-14, 21-11 and Suraj Goala and Bakeshwari Yadav 22-20, 21-18 respectively in the first and the second round of the draw before carving out a 21-13, 17-21, 21-13 win against Kush Chugh and Nithin HV to book the semi-final berth.
