Medical Assistance to 7 Journalists
PWF awards Rs 1,85 000/- as Medical Assistance to 7 Journalists; invites application for MFA 2023-24 Phase 1
Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF) invites application for MFA (first phase) for the year 2023-24 for treatment expenditure incurred between, 1st April 2023 to 31st September 2023. The disbursement for which will be done in Oct-Nov 2023. This announcement comes after AMWJU’s non-profit, Trust, PWF disbursed on Friday Rs. 1,85,000/- as assistance under the Medical Financial Assistance (MFA) Phase II for the 2022-23.
PWF’s team, led its Managing Trustee and AMWJU President, Kakchingtabam Bijoy, Senior Trustees Ningthoukhongjam Tombiraj and PWF Secretary, Sunzu Bachaspatimayum handed over the financial assistance to the 7 beneficiaries of MFA 2022-23 Phase -2 at a simple distribution function held at the Manipur Press Club.
Altogether, 8 applications were received, seeking assistance under the Medical Financial Assistance scheme (second phase) for 2022-23 for treatment incurring between 1st October 2022 to March 2023. Subsequently, the applications were all forwarded to the PWF Medical Board, consisting doctors from RIMS, JNIMS and Shija Hospitals. After due deliberation, the Medical Board gave its recommendations, which was later approved by the Board of Trustees for disbursement. However, one beneficiary decided to withdraw his application. Hence assistance was handed over to the 7 remaining beneficiaries.
Soibam Milan of IS TV who underwent rib-lung injuries received the maximum assistance of Rs. 40,000/- while Niranjan Oinam of People Chronicle, and Sanjoo Thangjam of Morning Bells who applied for assistance on behalf of their immediate family members received R. 30,000/- each.
Loushigam James Singh, a reporter of Paonilkhon under unfortunate succumbed to his ailment after undergoing treatment for multiple disorder like metabolic syndrome/acute respiratory distress etc. was given Rs. 30,000/- His father, L Mangi Singh received the assistance.
Samungou Sanasam of ISTV and Akoijam Pompok Meitei of Impact TV received financial assistance of Rs. 20,000/- each for their immediate family members. While Thoudam Surjakanta of Naharol Thoudang who applied for his mother’s humerus fracture treatment was awarded Rs. 15,000/-
MFA scheme of PWF is an annual financial assistance offered in two phases interspersed by six months. Paomee Welfare Foundation came into being in 2017 to independently managed AMWJU’s corpus Funds of over Rs 85 lakhs, raised by way of a Mega Lottery organized in 2017.
The Foundation offers one-time medical financial assistance to its retired and present members. Present members who may also nominate one of their immediate family members as beneficiary. PWF funds its medical assistance scheme out of the interest earned from the corpus fund kept as fixed deposit with State Bank of India.
