Media in Imphal cautioned from carrying 'Paid News'
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Feb 14
Manipur chief electoral officer (CEO) Tuesday cautioned media houses including electronic channels in Manipur to carefully examine any news items before publishing in the newspaper. CEO made this statement after some newspapers and electronic channels based in Imphal published/highlighted political statements of some candidates of political parties.
Observing that such news items can mislead the public about the real situation and also constitute violation of Rules under “Paid News”, a statement of the state CEO signed by N Praveen Singh reminded that Model Code of Conduct was still in force although elections were held on January 28 and re-poll on February 4.
