Shri Khaidem Ranjankumar Singh is the second son amongst four siblings of Shri Kh. Selungba Singh (Retd. Head Master of Khoirom Primary School) of Yairipok Khoirom, Thoubal Dist., Manipur. He passed his matriculation exam in 1984 from Yairipok High School, Yairipok.
He got his Bachelor Degree of Science from D.M. College of Science in 1989 and later M.Sc. degree (Physics) in 1991 from Manipur University, Canchipur. He completed One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Radiological Physics (Dip. R.P.) in 1993 from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai. Shri Singh started his career as Medical Physicist in a Cancer Hospital in Kolkata. He joined BARC in 1996, and was later transferred to Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), Mumbai in 2001.
His field of specialization is Radiation Protection (Safe Transport of Radioactive Material). He is currently heading a section of Radiological Safety Division of AERB, which looks after the safety of the transport radioactive material, management of disused sources and consumer products in the public domain. Shri Singh had represented AERB (India) in many of the Technical and Consultancy meetings of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Vienna.
He is a well known expert by the IAEA in the field of transport regulations and radioactive contamination in scrap metal used by the recycling steel industries.
He is also a faculty for the One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Radiological Physics (Dip. R.P.), conducted by Homi Bhabha National Institute (Deemed University), Department of Atomic Energy, Mumbai.
In recognition of his expertise the Government of India nominated him as Indian representative to the prestigious Transport Safety Standards Committee (TRANSSC) of IAEA. He served as member in the committee for the period 2011 to 2013.
In recognition of his significant contribution to the works of the committee of IAEA, Shri Ranjankumar has been again nominated by the Government of India; and he has been appointed by the Deputy Director General of IAEA as member of TRANSSC for the period 2014 to 2017.
Shri Ranjankumar is a regular visitor to Pioneer Academy, Imphal.
