Manipur tribal body threatens stir over low ST quota at RIMS
Times of India | TNN | Apr 5, 2012, 07.31AM IST
Accusing the authorities of the Centre-run Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) of allotting only 7.5% quota to ST candidates in the ongoing recruitments to some posts in the institute, a powerful tribal rights body has threatened to launch a stir if the reservation anomaly is not rectified.
The written test for recruitment of 71 staff nurses and 11 lower division clerks was held a few days ago at the institute's Imphal West complex.
The Movement for Tribal People's Rights, Manipur (MTPMR) filed a complaint on the quota dispute to Rims director and sent copies of the same to the Union family health and family welfare minister and chief minster Okram Ibobi Singh on Tuesday.
