Manipur scribes protest threats by outfits

Holding placards which read ‘Pen is mightier than the gun,’ ‘We want peace,’ ‘Respect the freedom of the press,’ etc., more than 200 media persons working at Imphal, Churachandpur and Ukhrul participated in the demonstration held in the busy Keishampat area.
“If we threaten journalists, we are threatening our civilisation and development,” said Manipur Hill Journalists’ Union member Suanlyan Tungnung. “How can you bring about change or transformation without the press,” he asked.
