Manipur's saxophone champion-turned-writer wins literary award
A jawan, musician and an author
The Telegraph | Khelen Thockchom | Imphal, April 22:
His colleagues in forces won medals for on duty activities but Thokchom Dilipkumar Singh, 40, a CRPF constable from Thoubal district of Manipur, won laurels for off-duty activities. But this CRPF constable is not complaining.
First, he won gold medals by playing saxophone and now he has been selected for the prestigious National Samata Sahitya Akademi Award 2012 for his contribution to Manipuri literature after publishing two books — one a short-story collection and the other on poetry.
His second book, Mapan Sana Manung Fadi, a collection of poems earned Dilipkumar the National Samata Sahitya Akademi Award 2012, immediately after the poetry book was released on April 18.
