internationalreporter.com | March 4, 2012
Congress is all set to retain the majority in Manipur, if the exit polls conducted by the Centrefor the Study of Developing Societies are anything to go by. In association with The Week and CNN-IBN, the CSDS post-polling surveys predict that the Congress, while losing approximately a 4% share in total seats since 2007, will remain in power.
The ruling majority is expected to win 29 to 32 seats in the Manipur assembly, out of a total of 60 seats. The People’s Democratic Front, strongly anti-Congress in its stance, is expected to do poorly, winning 5 to 11 seats.
The All India Trinamool Congress might emerge with a strong hand, andpredictions state that it may win as many as 13 seats.
