MSAD Statement on Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill, 2015
MSAD condemned the arbitrary manner of introducing the MRVTMW bill by the Government of Manipur, which provides privilege to the outsiders in contradiction to the
demand of a bill to protect the rights of the indigenous people.
Such an act of bypassing the demand of the people, by the elected representatives, indicates suspension of democracy and
disrespect of the people. By imposing curfew in various places of Imphal to suppress the democratic voice of the people, the government has shown its true colours of authoritarianism
and tyranny.
In such a situation, we would like to appeal that we must not fall into the Government’s devilish plot to ignite communal conflict between the indigenous people and the outsiders.
At the same time, we must take up all the democratic courses to ensure the rights of the indigenous people.
