Shrimati Lourembam Bedabati Devi : Sangeetbhusan (Khunung Eshei) 2017

Shrimati Lourembam Bedabati Devi was born on 5th of November, 1955, to Lourembam Gopal Singh and Lourembam Tombi Devi.
From childhood days, she was fond of folk songs. And sooner she learned folk songs under the guidance of learned teachers like Thangjam Nungshi Devi, Wangoo Khongnang, Thang-ga Mangoljao, and Thoudam Nodiya respectively.
And later she joined Chorus Repertory in 1998 as a folk artist.
She performed not only in various Indian states, but also in many foreign countries like Paris, Australia, Japan, Netherlands, Brazil, Washington DC, USA; Kennedy Centre, California etc.
Moreover she gave her mesmerizing performance in the Festival of India held in USSR in 1988.
She is a B-Plus artist of All India Radio and composed many of children folk songs like Nonglei Eshei and Phousu Eshei.
She acquired many degrees and awards including
o Gold Medal in 3 years Diploma Course(1981) in Manipuri Dance,
o Manipur State Kala Akademi Award, 2011,
o Senior Fellowship, 2013 by Ministry of Culture, and
o Cash Award(Folk Song), 2013 honoured by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad.
Lourembam Bedabati Devi is presently teaching folk songs as a Guest Faculty Member in Manipur University of Culture.
In recognition of her contribution to folk songs, Lourembam Bedabati was honoured with the title Sangeetbhusan (Folk Song) by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad on its 82nd Annual Conference.
