Over the past forty years, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme has built a reputation for recruiting and fielding the highest caliber volunteers that the world has to offer. We expect no less of our UN Youth Volunteers: your work days won’t be spent making coffee or photocopying documents, you’ll be carrying out critical duties that help your UN host entity fulfill its mission. This means that although we don’t have minimum requirements in terms of educational background or work experience [1] you will have distinguished yourself from your peers through your academic record, community service, or leadership.
o Have demonstrated a commitment to global peace and development.
o Are extremely motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable to new cultures and situations.
o Are willing to step outside your comfort zone, proactively problem solve, and stay smiling while doing so.
o Can dedicate between six and twenty-four months to your volunteer assignment.
o Have volunteered or done service to others in your community, school, or internationally.
o Are between the ages of 18 and 29 for the entire duration of your service (i.e. on the day that you END your assignment you must still be 29!)
