“PM Modi needs to bring both the communities together on his table to bring long lasting peace in Manipur. This violence is fueled by our politicians and innocent people are paying the price of it. His silence is the biggest mistake”, said the 12 years old activist in a media interview after the award ceremony.
She further added that, “This is the time for United Nations and international community to intervene to stop the open genocide by Kukis against the minority meiteis in Manipur”.
Licypriya has been advocating against climate change since she was 6 years old and occupies one of the prominent and crucial voices in the global climate change movement.
She has been demanding the rich nations pay for the loss and damage caused by the climate crisis to the global south and to phase out fossil fuels. Her demand was finally achieved in the COP28 after the world leaders and 196 member states of the United Nations agreed to end the era of fossil fuels by 2050.
Renewable, Hydrogen and Nuclear energy will replace major parts of the fossil fuels and will not see the fossil fuels anymore after 2050. Her voice gave a big impact to the United Nations.
Licypriya recently visited her birthplace Manipur and she was accorded warm welcome by a large number of people. She is planning to visit Churachandpur next month.
