Liangmai community in Delhi performed at Northeast festival held on 26th- 28th October, 2018

The Northeast festival under the theme “connecting People, Celebrating Life”, three-day event (26th- 28th October, 2018) comprises of organic food of Northeast state, vibrant fashion where talented designers from the Northeast represented, handicrafts, music, dance, tourism, and creative performance was showcased at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts at Janpath, New Delhi.
The festival has created a special place for the Liangmai community in Delhi where young talented boys and girls of Liangmai Katinah Ruangdi, Delhi (LKRD) proudly preformed their folk dance at the event.
The President LKRD, Kenhilakbou Ringkangmai reported, “the dance portrays the unique culture of Liangmai tradition and it’s richness in colours. It signifies not only the harmony and unity among the people but the importance of relation between men and nature”.
The performance was witnessed by a bunch of tribes and communities of Northeast state and people residing in Delhi & NCR.
The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) General Secretary, Mathiuchunbou Rimai also the Coordinating member for the festival stated that, it was encouraging to see the educated youth of the tribe who came far from home never forgotten their ancient culture and tradition.
The event has marked an occasion to explore awareness about the cultural diversity of the region and its uniqueness in the heart of the city. Further it was stated that in the past years the Liangmai community living in Delhi had been participating in various Northeast platform.
Young people should continue to promote their culture, create a sense of belongingness and enjoy with responsibility.
Besides, the LKRD expressed their sincere heartfelt gratitude to the seniors and advisers of Liangmai in Delhi for their constant support, encouragement and assistance.
