The belligerent atmosphere in NC Hills and the Hmar inhabited
areas of Cachar District is likely to escalate if the Government
should not intervene in its whole capacity to bring about peace
and security in the region. Squarely, the Assam Government seems
to show a lackadaisical attitude to the acute problems faced
by the displaced persons in and outside NC Hills. The state’s
failure to institute a dialectic approach in the region where
the DRDC in collusion with the DHD launched a destructive political
process is becoming a mooted topic.
So easier said than done, the series of peace meetings
having held in the strife torn district of NC Hills and Cachar
becomes a farce to the Hmars. On the contrary, the Dimasas were
found to be anti-peace rather than the harbinger of peace as
claimed by the JNH leaders. The peace meeting, hitherto, has
been consciously or unconsciously foiled by the Dimasas themselves.
It should be noted, that, they the Dimasas are the ones who try
to do away the peace process structured through thick and thin
by the state authorities .They have painted a war like syndrome
instead of giving peace a chance. In almost every peace meeting
called, the Dimasas carried out pre-empt attack on the Hmars.
Needless to say, the assassination of Shri V.L.Lianjaua Tuolor
inter alias was carried out 30 minutes before the schedule of
peace meeting that was to have been held at the DC Office, Haflong
.If such a heinous crime could be committed while the Hmar leaders
were on their way to attend the meeting, there is no point of
denying the fact that, they the Dimasas are intensifying to thwart
all the peace meeting and are not really interested in solving
the Hmar-Dimasas’ imbroglio.
Why should the Medias give a tacit support to the Dimasas?
Are some newspapers treating the Hmars with deliberate biasness?
It is to one’s belief that Medias cannot be mistrusted, for Medias
is a vox populi. Such Faux pas, aspersion reports found in some
newspapers belied the public trust. The Medias altogether should
sit on the fence and do away the Ex nihilo nihil fit.
In the process, the law and order machinery is trampling
on the basic and Fundamental Rights of the people. It is the
State and the Central Government who should intervene in its
whole capacity to bring about a final solution to the mires of
the minotities. The government of Assam should not become a silent
spectator to the war inflicted on the Hmars but should rather
feel secure with its huge mandate and use the opportunity to
concentrate on the implementation of justice and good governance.
The State should at best try to institute democratic principles
and must bring out the truth so that the whole or partial fabrication
reports are checked. The Government must not connive to the implorable
condition or plights of the displaced Hmars caused due to the
unabated ethnic cleansing campaign launched by the DHD.
Let not the Dimasas who are surreptitiously negating
the peace process be given the carte blanche to dictate on terms
and conditions of peace negotiation. They should be asked to
unveil their true beings and come to put their cards on the table.
The Hmars and the other minorities groups should therefore be
aware of false prophets, who come in sheep’s clothing, but are
inwardly ravenous wolves. Let all their gimmicks, dubious manner,
digress and blah blah blah be done away with, so that the long
suppressed truth be uncovered.
Let truth and truth alone prevail.
With warms regards,
CH HMAR
