Launch of Minnie Vaid's book "Iron Irom: : Two Journeys" during 18 Degress Festival at Shillong

A main event at the recently concluded 18 degrees festival in Shillong was the North East launch of Minnie Vaid's book, Iron Irom: Two Journeys, on Saturday, 28th September by Khasi writer and professor of English Literature, Esther Syiem.
Minnie Vaid is a veteran journalist and documentary film-maker, who has written this book based on her meeting and conversation with Chanu Irom Sharmila in the Magistrate's Court in Imphal, as well as interviews with activists, editors, friends and family of Irom Sharmila.
“18 Degrees” festival 2013 was an initiative undertaken by the Government of Meghalaya, Department of Arts and Culture, with the objective of promoting Art and Culture in Meghalaya. It was a unique festival that encompasses different elements of traditional art and culture as well as modern modes of self-expression such as Music, Poetry, art installations and many more.
This is the first time that such a festival was held in Meghalaya. The festival started on 26th September 2013 and concluded on the 28th September 2013.
The venue of the festival was the Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong. The event was powered by Curves and Shades, The Small Art Project and Meghalaya XBHP.
