Shree Laishram Somorendro was born on 19th April 1964 at Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai, Imphal.
His parents were Laishram Nimai and Laishram Nupimacha. Since childhood days, he was very much fond of literature.
Somorendro completed his graduation from Imphal College and finished MSc in Chemistry from Manipur University in the year 1986.
Even though he was a student of Science, his wrote short stories and were included in the college magazine.
He is currently working as a Chemist in the Industry Department of Manipur Government.
He served as a Secretary of Writer's Forum Imphal for two terms and also served as an editor for Sahitya gi Pao, a journal published by the Forum.
He is also a life member of Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti, Imphal.
Somorendro translated Ajmir S Rodh's 'The Last Flicker'as 'Aroiba Meiri' in Manipuri, which is originally written in Punjabi by Gurdiyal Singh as 'Marhi da Dibha'.
Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Imphal has considered the novel 'Aroiba Meiri' as one of the outstanding novels translated in between 2013 to 2017 and for this contribution, the Parishad has conferred him the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad: Labuktongbam Raghumani Sharma Translation Award in the 83rd Annual Conference of the Parishad.
