Kuki talks interlocutor appointed
The Telegraph | Anita Joshua / Khelen thokchom | New Delhi/Imphal, Aug. 9
The Centre has appointed a former Intelligence Bureau (IB) director as interlocutor for the tripartite talks it began with Kuki organisations and the Manipur government today. The interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma, was introduced to the Kuki organisations at today's meeting in New Delhi, the third in the process.
Leaders of two umbrella Kuki groups - Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United Peoples Front (UPF) - signed the tripartite suspension of operation (SoO) agreement in 2008. The SoO agreement was today extended till August 31, 2018. Sharma assured the UPF and KNO delegations that political-level talks would begin at the earliest, possibly by this month-end or early next month.
