Khaplang orders valley rebels out of Myanmar
The Telegraph | Nishit Dholabhai | New Delhi, May 29:
Coinciding with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Yangon, the Myanmar-based Naga rebel leader S.S. Khaplang is believed to have told Manipur’s valley-based insurgent outfits to leave areas dominated by the Nagas, government sources have said here.
Late last week, as India was preparing to convey to Myanmar its concerns about the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang)’s sheltering of Manipuri outfits, Yangon seemed to have acted in response to hints from India by nudging Khaplang.
“Khaplang has asked the valley-based insurgent groups to leave Naga areas. They are now believed to be packing up to leave,” said a government source.
