Karnataka assures adequate security to NE people

Under a confidence-building initiative, the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka today reassured the people of the North-east of tight security and hassle-free accommodation into their jobs and educational institutions in his State.
Ashoka, on a visit to the State, today met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and informed him about the steps taken by the Karnataka Government to tackle the situation and ensure the safety of the north-easterners working or studying in the State.
More than 3.5 lakh people of North-east origin live in Karnataka of which 2.5 lakh people live in Bangalore alone – maximum of those being from Assam.
