In a first of its kind from the State, Ji Ingobi Chingtham of Khongjom Sapam Mayai Leikai will venture on a solo bicycle ride across seven countries, carrying various themes including Act East Policy, Ima Keithel (women empowerment) and climate change.
The 21 years old graduate from Khongjom Mayai Leikai will kick off his solo trip on August 3 and pass through Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore this year.
The trip will be flagged off by CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam from Kangla Western Gate.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul today, Ji Ingobi conveyed that he plans to cover the world in his trip, although the initial phase will cover all districts in Manipur and subsequently pass Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Singapore.
Claiming that he had made a bicycle trip in the State on "Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao", Ji Ingobi asserted that his inner desire to inculcate the feeling of respecting women, brotherhood, peace and development, caring for nature etc to the global communities, inspired him to begin his bicycle trip.
He added that the themes for his latest bicycle tour includes "Respect your identity and others will respect you" and "Global integration" .
Stating that his tour set a target of covering many destinations within 220 days, he appealed the State Government to help in obtaining his visa while he covers the Manipur districts in around 20 days.
Saying that few Ministers have extended some amount the trip, he asked the Govt to endorse monetary assistance for his trip.
He continued that he will interact with school students and public during his trip and will use GPS to track the kilometres covered by him during the tour.
