Ghetto fubulous (Jazz fusion band Fubar Ghetto - Delhi)
timeoutdelhi.net
It’s not always easy for instrumental groups to win over an audience. When jazz fusion band Fubar Ghetto perform, there are often hecklers asking whether the vocalist is late for the show.
Its members – guitarist Vikram Chongtham, bassist Rajkumar Raju and Singh – infuse their music with the exuberance of rock, which was their first love. Chongtham and Raju, both in their early 40s, are from Imphal in Manipur. They have been performing for the last 20 years, but have properly known each other only since early 2010, when Fubar Ghetto was formed.
Fubar prides itself on the fact that they rarely repeat musical phrases when they play. “That is one thing in common with all members of the band,” Chongtham said.
