JCPI slams Nagaland CM’s statement on ILP
Morung Express | Dimapur, March 8 (MExN):
The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigration (JCPI) today expressed concern at the Nagaland State Chief Minister’s reported statement wherein he had stated recently that “while enforcing the ILP in Dimapur or any other areas of Nagaland the law should be relaxed for the indigenous citizens of Northeastern states.”
“This utterance is illogical, absurd, and anti-thesis to the demand of the JCPI (and the people) for the reason that intrusion of illegal immigrants into Nagaland is and will be mostly from NE Region and not from any other states in the country. If we take the CM’s statement at face value, then there should be no BEFR/ILP in the state,” a press note from the JCPI Convener, K Ghokheto Chophy, Co-convener, Joel Naga and Secretary, Tia Longchar said.
