In the modern world, to possess power, money too seems to be another essential requirement. Hence, the vile murders and killings for power and money. This power-hunger is in everybody specifically more so in Manipur.
Such questions had been asked time and time again in the media by many. But another merciless killing of a father and a son together! Then another vicious murder of a four-year-old child, flung down from the second storey of a building!
What virulent virus has entered into the blood stream of the Manipuris? What else can we do, except groping around in the shrouded darkness and utter such questions under the breath over and over again?
Yes, we can do one thing definitely. Let us stop slinging mud on each others' faces.
Let us stop this blame-game. Let us blame ourselves, let each one of us scrutinize ourselves, a self introspection: Are we not in this very society? Are we not participating ourselves? Let us observe our surrounding very, very keenly.
Let each father, each mother, each guardian, each warden have a solemn vow, 'I will not allow any of my children to commit such things; I will see to it that my son or my boy or my ward is not involved in such a macabre murder, not murder alone but even to hold a gun or take a fierce weapon capable of committing murder.'
Everything went scarce during the four-month long economic blockade; one item was easily available and that was and is still the explosive devices or bombs and hand grenades.
What a joke! What a cruel irony! Manipur has gone down to the pit-bottom of degeneration. It is time each and every one of us takes things seriously. Man had started to tread on earth 4 billions of years now. We are supposed to be living in a century of intellectual civilisation now. Why go to the primitive means and methods of controlling people by brutality, ghastly and beastly?
With the season coming to the matters of our Eema-Eebels, sisters and Meira Paibees, at the advent of the Noopee Lal Day, we were thinking to share the sentiments of our grannies, mothers and sisters.
We were trying to take parts in the positive steps of bringing a warm healthy regard for our women, a well settled understanding among all in regards to women. Suddenly this vile, brutish and unholy murder has taken place in our land; yes, our land which all of us love so much, and it has spoiled everything.
There is this thing, most of the time a poisonous one at that, the desire for power; it is in every living organism. Man is no exception. More fundamentally, the desire to exist or to survive is the most vital and absolute trait in every soul.
When a man or an animal does not get food to survive or exist he or it will be the most unscrupulous soul in his or its struggle for food. Among the waves of the 'isms' apart from modernism, post-modernism, so and so forth 'existentialism' has come to stand most vital and prominent. So the fight for the stomach is understandable.
But the viciousness among power-mongers is the most condemnable filth in man's character. In the modern world, to possess power, money too seems to be another essential requirement. Hence, the vile murders and killings for power and money. This power-hunger is in everybody specifically more so in Manipur.
The only difference is: in some, it is at a lower ebb of threshold; in some it is all the time brimming, frothing, fermenting and overflowing. It is the spill-overs of this overflow of power-hunger that beastly predicaments occur so often whereas we call ourselves the highest species in the living world.
Staying away from the murky blame game; but if we want to identify the culprits who are infatuated 24X7 with power-hunger, the craving for money and guns in Manipur, it has to be zeroing to the state actors or the armed militants or those who sham as revolutionists but act in an armed gang for selfish collection of money or they have to be the political power mongers or the central intelligence wizards who are playing certain policies to keep the region under constant chaos.
Because these are the individuals or members who gain most in terms of personal proficiency, at the same time gather wealth and power when a state or region is in a constant predicament of powerless anarchy, self destruction and degeneration.
Ours, now, is to be very serious and to observe the movements of people of this kind very minutely but at the same time to keep away from such kind of people every moment of the day.
How long is Manipur to endure this ongoing sporadic but systematic genocide? Let us be serious and face it as people of grid, integrity and intellect. No one and no agent, whatever it is, should be able to wipe us out.
