Five-time world champion MC Mary Kom on Thursday said that boxing as a sport in India was at the threshold of a new era with the success of Venky's Mumbai Fighters in the ongoing World Series Boxing.
"Indian boxing has been on a high for last few years. With positive results and developments like these (Indian franchise at World Series of Boxing), the sport's profile has received a tremendous boost," Mary Kom said.
The Manipuri 'Supermom' has been training at Venky's Mumbai Fighters' facilities at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi for a week now with focus on London Olympics.
