India lacks strategic mission, says expert
The Telegraph | Imphal, April 27:
India could not stop the growing influence of China in neighbouring Myanmar because India did not have any “strategic mission” towards its neighbours, Baladas Ghoshal, visiting professor at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, said here today. Giving his keynote address on the opening day of a four-day national seminar on India-Myanmar-China relations here, Ghoshal said India had promised Myanmar many projects, but none was coming up.
“India has only been reacting to what China has been doing in Myanmar. India’s approach is not positive. Naturally, the approach will be a failure,” Ghoshal said. India should have a concerted approach to Myanmar after taking into consideration of all strategic points of views.
The seminar is being organised by the Centre for Myanmar Studies, Manipur University.
