'India's Higher Education System is casteist'

he Asian Centre for Human Rights has come up with a report revealing the “discrimination” towards Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in India’s higher education system.
The report cited the University Grants Commission’s disclosure that the representation of STs in the post of professors has come down from 3.88% in 2006-07 to 0.24% in 2010-11. As per the same report, the number of ST readers came down from 1.03% in 2006-2007 to 0.32% in 2010-11. It further informed that the number of ST lecturers came down from 4.43% in 2006-07 to 3.63% in 2010-11.
