Indefinite bandh on NH-37 commences
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Mar 17:
Many Imphal-bound vehicles were stranded at Jiribam with the commencement of the indefinite bandh on the Imphal-Jiribam section of NH-37 (former NH-53), called by United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA), a tribal based armed militant group Saturday.
Over 100 vehicles including loaded trucks, inter-state buses were stranded at Jiribam sources said. The stranded vehicles will be escorted to Imphal by state security forces that left Imphal for Jiribam today morning.
The highway bandh which commenced from 6 am today was imposed by the UTLA in protest against the arrest of one of its cadres by the security force on March 13 last. The armed outfit has claimed that they are maintaining ceasefire with the government forces.
