Ibobi torn between Ukhrul legislators - CM readies to induct more ministers
The Telegraph | Imphal, March 28:
Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh is faced with the tough task of choosing between two Congress MLAs to represent Ukhrul, as he prepares to add to his fortnight-old ministry. The Congress had won two of the three seats in Ukhrul while the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) bagged the third.
“Chingai is one of the remotest constituencies in Ukhrul . It is also the district’s most backward constituency. We are expecting the constituency’s representative will be inducted in Ibobi Singh’s ministry,” said Yangmaso Raising, a Chingai resident.
Phungyar MLA Rishang Keishing has served as Manipur chief minister for five terms (1980 to 1997). Ukhrul MLA Yangmaso Shaiza was the first chief minister from the indigenous community, who served twice in the 1970s.
