Ibobi mulls parliamentary secys
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, April 15:
Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh is toying with the idea of appointing at least seven parliamentary secretaries and is likely to discuss the matter with AICC president Sonia Gandhi when he visits New Delhi tomorrow.
The post of parliamentary secretary is one rank below cabinet minister but above the administrative secretaries of a department. They enjoy nearly all the perks and facilities extended to ministers, including using national flags on their official vehicles.
“Ibobi Singh is having a problem of plenty. He wants to drop some of those who were ministers in the second term and induct new ones. But as each and every one is lobbying both at the Centre and in Imphal, it is hard for him to take a decision,” a Congress legislator said.
