Ibobi beams as rain lashes Imphal
The Telegraph | Imphal, July 27
A sudden downpour today in Manipur, which is reeling under a drought-like situation, made chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh smile. He said today’s rain was a blessing of the rain god for the Congress.
As soon as Ibobi Singh sat down on the dais at the auditorium of the Congress Bhawan shortly after 2 this afternoon at a party reception function for newly elected office- bearers of the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, the rain came pouring down.
Ibobi Singh has been facing mounting pressure from farmers and public organisations demanding that Manipur be declared a drought-hit state to bail out farmers whose paddy fields remain dry.
