Huidrom Nageshwar Singh
Shri Huidrom Nageshwar Singh included in the “39th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica” from 1st December, 2019 to 21st January, 2021.
Shri Huidrom Nageshwar Singh, from Wabagai Makha Leikai, Kakching District, Manipur and presently serving as Meteorologist-B in India Meteorological Department (IMD) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India has been selected for the “39th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (ISEA)” from 1st December, 2019 to 21st January, 2021.
He is an active member and General Secretary of Manipuri Diaspora Association (MDA), Delhi.
It may be worth to mention that there are about 30 members who have been selected for the said expedition. Out of the 30 members, 5 members will come back to India by April, 2020 and remaining 25 including Shri Singh will remain at different Indian stations at Antarctica namely Maitri and Bharati till 21st January, 2021.
These members are scientists/experts working in different fields in different Organizations of Government. They would be mainly conducting research works/studies in their respective field. However, Shri Singh will be associated with studies of ozone observations, sea waves, ice melting rates, snow storms, global warming, vertical atmospheric profile, etc.
The selection process was rigorous in nature; one had to go through a detailed medical examination procedure followed by snow acclimatization training conducted at the Mountaineering & Skiing Institute located at Auli, Uttarakhand.
At this juncture when he is about to depart for a journey and a destination where many of us have not had any experience, I on behalf of all members of MDA, Delhi would like to extend our best wishes to him.
