How I grew up with this nature- 10

By: Devaraj Takhellambam *

I woke up this morning with a mix of weariness and a little bit of excitement as I was going to have a long weekend. The stripes of the sun rays are slithering from the window curtains and fell on my face. It smelled so good. So fresh! But I was thinking hard wheather to fall back sleep again or to wake up and shine with the world with a new hope for a new beginning... Alas, I won the battle and decided to wake up and go for a morning walk. What can I say brother-It is really exhilarating to go for a morning walk in the early morning sun rise? It’s so beautiful outside and you will feel so much energetic. If you have been waking up late these days, it would be a good try to wake up early in the morning and go for a short walk…Tell me how you feel about it...I am sure you will love it. Really!

I got a day off due to the Labour Day holiday. I am planning to buy a laptop for myself this weekend. I have been watching the price a little bit for the past one week like cleaving an eye on the stock market .The prices are never constant and this is not uncommon.

Alright! Had a cup of red tea and corn flakes, I am all set to get the ball rolling now. And today, I am going to write about this very interesting series-10 .I guess- this part of the series is about the high-spirited life with so much of fun at GURGAON.

I was coming back from Bangalore (in my last series-9)….
Ok, landed at the Delhi Domestic Airport around noon, with a slumber feeling of already missing Bangalore. The city welcomed me with a gentle breeze of cold wind enlightening my mood to face a new direction i.e. back to work! – no fun at all but all of us need to work! There is no escaping dude.

Six of us use to stay on a rented 3 bedroom gigantic apartment on the 7’th floor. I guess, it was one of the nicest apartments I had ever stayed in India with so much of greenery space and nice surroundings. You know! Children’s park, swimming pool, tennis court, beautiful, so beautiful..And well maintained garden and to top it all-nice girls :-). Oh yes. I like the last one better ?

Initially, when we first arrived there, we had a big problem with commutation. No public buses that I know of. just a few auto rickshaws that fits- how many people, I couldn’t count. I had traveled by the auto once and I was almost tossed between so many peoples but it was a good experience!. Cycle rickshaws are another mode of commutation but it wasn’t really feasible though due to the long distance and the slow movement- creep creep creep. Later on, I was able to afford to buy a bike and ride like mad. Like I have never ridden before...It was so nice to ride on the straight road. Awesome feeling! Not much traffic! My friends were rich and 2 of them got their cars. So we had no problems no more!

After coming back from work, we would go out for a walk to the park....prepare tea and eat haldirams namkin..and sometimes, buy samosha from the nearby gulli market and it was going dandy.

During the weekend or on the holidays, we would go out to watch a movie at the malls-DT Cinema, PVR, hang around and what not. It was going really groovy. At around, 11 in the night, one of us would come up with a plan to go to the pubs and all of us would go and waggle a little bit. Some of our favorite pubs are –Mojo, oxygen...

One night, we were really desperate to get into the pub (oxygen) and they wont allow easily but alas, we got hold of the guys there and got in- 300 bucks was the entry fee per head if I remember right, you know...You get a stamp on your hand to distinguish that you have already been admitted. funny huh!. Don’t you still do that or if not, remember about it if you are a pub goers-pub hopping is another big fun..oh yes, you got it there!

The nonstop music, the smokes enduring from every corner, the flash lights palpating with the music and everyone inside were just maddening, dancing like crazy…It was too much of crowd that you wont find enough space to breath and that’s why it use to be a materializing pub-oxygen( specially for the young souls). Oh yes! We were little bit of drunk and later I saw a bouncer pulling away one of our friend out of the room (Dude! if you are reading this, I am sure it will put a smile on you. but don’t tell about this to your wife).

He came back a while later and it was my turn next. I wasn’t doing anything nasty or funny. I was just dancing like the other folks but there were a group of girls dancing right next to me. I remember they started talking to me and the next moment the bouncer who was well built, almost double of my height- called me out of the room. He took me outside and asks me to stay there….Man he was so scary. I thought he was going to punch me but fortunately he didn’t. I tried hard to convince him, pray to him :-)..But I had to stay for 5 minutes and only I could get in again. The atmosphere was cold outside that I came back to my senses and probably that’s what he wanted.... Finally we would drive back home talking, shouting and what not at the fullest speed that he could catch the road- It was like following the road.

Sometimes, for the birthday celebrations, we would invite people at our apartment and thong thong…too much of drink. Too much of talking, loud music’s-.that disturbed all our neighbors in the middle of the fast night. I am sure they would be cursing us.. :).. The 1000watt Philips speaker would scream - Bhege hote tere, pyassa dil mera, Kabhi mere saaath....... koi raat guzaaar. tujhe subha tak mein .....aee. karunga pyaar....

The security guys would come and then ask us to reduce the volume and we would pretend to be completely normal. Somebody would come and bang the door from outside. It was crazy….

The trip to Nainital at Uttarakhand was just unforgettable. We started from the apartment in 2 cars on a beautiful August morning listening to the song – dil kyaa kare jab kisee se, kisee ko pyaar ho jaaye jaane kahaa kab kisee ko, kisee se pyaar ho jaaye … It was really really fun, lot of exciting moments, an adventurous trip ..We would stop on the highway and drink tea…It is a great place. We reached there at early morning, cold and foggy. We had to sleep inside the car as we couldn’t get any hotel...Man, it was. What can I say? It was one of the most amazing trips I have ever had in my life...

Hang on; I have got one more interesting story to tell you. It was in chill November- the wedding season There were lots of marriages happening at Delhi, Gurgaon and everywhere around. My friend and I had a couple of beer and we went out to eat Masala Dosa …We were just driving aimlessly and we thought to get into one of the marriage party and have dinner. So we parked the car and asked if that was sapana’s and abhiseks (we just pick some name, you know) marriage. The dude said no and told us that it might be the other one- The other one is just yards away. So you see, lots of marriages happening. So we just got in there and the bharat (guy) was on his horse just about to enter the gate and we congratulated him. Infact, he was bewildered at us probably trying to recognize who this guys are..lol..he would never have been successful no matter how hard he tried coz we don’t know him either :-) We shook hands and started dancing…and then somehow got inside. Wow! Had lots of food-.rasgulla, paneer, chat, ice cream and what now…So finally we came back running after filling our stomach. Man I wont forget that in my life..(Its still a joke shared every time our old friends get together till today..)

Well, it looks like this is going to be a never ending story if I let my memories poured in and I am tired already…However I am feeling good writing about it. Let me go and get some punch fruit juice and breath in some fresh air… I don’t have any memories left.

My girl friend had given me a book titled–Chicken soup for the soul, to read whenever I get bored. She is so sweet. Baby, I just want to let you know that-you are everything for me( if you are reading this boring series of my article). And I know you will read it, wont you? I will now go near the swimming pool and lie down and basks in the sunshine in order to get a suntan and fall into a sleepiness mood and then read the book...It’s going to be fun!

I will come back with my next article and try to make it more interesting…till then stay tuned…..I will have to throw away the trashes I have been collecting from my kitchen work for the past one week of cooking. Cooking for my own is not fun all the time. I wish I have a wife who can HELP cook for me. But yeah! I am enjoying here...Go and do some cooking exercise and try out something new. Smell the aroma and cook varieties of food. Eat healthy food and stay fit and stay competitive!

One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well - Virginia Woolf
