Home Away Home
Potshangbam Nyaydhar *
Among the greens,
Of the hilly vale,
Among the trees,
Where squirrels play,
And in haste they scamper,
Not in the distant shore
The eternal beauty of nature lay,
So earthly, yet so picturesque,
Where coconut trees dances
In the summer wind,
From the hills atop,
Flows the brook,
Blabbering themselves,
Among the pebbles,
Reborn was this life,
In this southern land,
"Home Away Home" I was
Under the protective care of Amma and Appa,
Nurtured were my boyhood days,
How I remember them now,
At this end of the world,
Thank God, it's memory,
That makes us human.
