Hate crime: Centre to go with Bezbaruah panel tips

The Union ministry of home affairs will soon implement the recommendations of the MP Bezbaruah Committee, which was set up by the Centre in February, to find the root cause of racial attacks on people from the northeast in New Delhi and suggest ways to curb these crimes.
"The home ministry will implement the recommendations of the committee. The panel has looked into various concerns of the people of the northeast living in different parts of India, especially metropolis. The panel has suggested promulgation of an anti-racial law or amendment to the IPC," said Rijiju. He added anti-racial provisions are already there in the IPC. "We will look into strengthening them," he said.
