Happy New Year Mr Chief Minister
Concerned Meitei *
Respected Sir,
Congratulations! Despite all the unwanted incidents that happened in the past six months, you have managed to put a golden feather on your cap. As usual, you came out with flying colours in the Yaiskul bye-election. Well played!
Despite all the protests, bandhs, curfews and class boycott, you sure know how to entertain the public with Food festival, Tourism Mela and what not. People have almost forgotten that schools and colleges have been shut for the past four months. You have been able to divert the main issue successfully. Well done!
After all the damage is done, I appreciate your little concern and bit of interest in breaking the deadlock and solving the issue. I know the Centre is least interested in making the classes resume, but you are directly related to the people and is accountable to them in every way possible morally, socially, economically and politically. And you have proved it again by playing safe. Better late than never. Good timing!
Frankly speaking, I don't trust you anymore. But the government that enjoys the support from the general public by hook or crook and several other organizations and groups (legal or illegal) is bound to stand strong under any circumstances. You know there is a fire raging in Manipur.
And you know very well you don't need any policies or solutions to stop the fire for you have all the time in the world to wait and let the fire subside by its own. I can see the pride in your eyes when you sit on your official chair. You kept talking about all ineffective measures spreading dust in the eyes of the ignorant public. You know very well that there need not be a change in the course. That's why I say you are a true politician.
Only now you realise the intensity of the problem. Wonder, what makes you wait for so long. While the government did not lose anything, the students have almost lost one academic year. Every year the number of students appearing high school examination drops.
In 2008, there was a drastic drop of 30% which is not healthy for the society as well as dreadful for the state's economy. This year also, many students must have already thought of dropping it spoiling their lives, getting involved in unwanted situations and creating more problems in the state. You are a terrible leader.
I thought there is a system that can make things right but I have realized there is no such system under your rule. You are just smart enough to fool the people. The people are fool enough to understand your politics. And I'm not wise enough to prove you wrong. That's where you score the points.
Both of us know, Apunba Lup would tone down at some point, AMSU, KSA and MSF would give up their unfulfilled demands later, militant organizations would be busy sending out demand letters, and the general people would keep running for their daily bread. And as expected it happened.
What other time would be more appropriate than now to announce that normal classes in schools and colleges can resume. You just delivered the best gift, the MoU, grabbing the opportunity to put another feather on your cap. Quite impressive!
The fire is over but the damage or consequences is yet to be seen. Till then, time to celebrate...Happy New Year Sir!
Sincerely yours'
