GoI on Frontier Nagaland demand
Morung Express | Dimapur, April 28 (MExN):
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has yet to offer any specific comments on the demand for “frontier Nagaland” except that the Nagaland government should develop the eastern districts.
Minister for State, Home Affairs, Mullappally Ramachandran replied that the ENPO had drawn attention of the Prime Minister “to the development deficit” in the four eastern districts of Nagaland comprising Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire and demanded a separate state comprising the said districts with special status and provisions.
“Since the demand for separate state emanates from the perception that there is appreciable development deficit in the four eastern districts of Nagaland, the state government has been advised to expedite development initiatives in the four eastern districts of Nagaland,” the minister said in reply.
