Gaikhangam happy with home portfolio
The Telegraph | Imphal, March 18:
Manipur PCC president Gaikhangam welcomed the allocation of the all-important charge of home affairs to him saying he would work “devotedly and honestly” to improve law and order situation in the state.
Sources said giving the home charge to Gaikhangam was part of a deal to let him withdraw the contest for the post of chief ministership paving the way for Ibobi Singh to return as the chief minister for the third consecutive term.
Asked how he plans to control the law and order situation and create a conducive atmosphere, Gaikhangam pleaded for some days before giving his reply. “I will meet reporters to respond to all their questions in a couple of days,” he said.
